The 24th LivCom Finals to be postponed to 24-27 May, 2027.
Since the launch of the 24th LivCom Awards this year, significant importance has been attached by the Morocco Government and Rabat local authorities. Following the successful conclusion of Morocco’s highly anticipated parliamentary elections in late September, a new government is set to be formed from October. Meanwhile, the annual LivCom Finals, in conjuction with several high-profile forums and parallel events, continues to gain momentum with backing from UNESCO Rabat Office, UCLG, ICESCO, and numerous research institutions and foundations. An increasing number of outstanding cities and projects have been nominated to participate in this session of Awards competition.
After consultations among Morocco Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Rabat Municipality, and the LivCom Committee, it has been decided that the 24th LivCom Finals and Forum originally organized in December will be postponed to 24-27 May, 2027. This decision aims to elevate this edition of LivCom Morocco events into a landmark international gathering feast event, ensure adequate preparation time, and provide participants from around the world with an optimal experience and greater benefits.
During the postponement period, the LivCom Secretariat will maintain ongoing communication with all stakeholders. The registered cities and projects before September 15 remains valid for LivCom 2027. Applicants who submitted Written Submission by August 31 or October 10 will receive preliminary evaluation results in batches by the International Panel of Judges starting in October.
The new deadlines for registration and submissions are extended to 15 January, 2027 and 15 February, 2027 respectively.

The LivCom Awards 2026 Has Opened the Second Round of Registration
Starting from 6 August, the second round of registration for the LivCom Awards 2026 has commenced. The registration deadline has been extended to 15 September, while the call for Written Submission will be closed by 10 October.
As of 31 July, LivCom has received registrations from 172 applicants across 39 countries, covering the Whole City Award, the Environmentally Sustainable Project Award, and the Technology and Solution Award. These applicants should submit their Written Submissions by 31 August for an interim review by the International Panel of Judges.
Following the adjustment of demographic categories for the Whole City Award, LivCom has received an increased number of registrations this year falling within Category D (population range of 400,001–1,000,000) and Category E (population over 1,000,000); meanwhile, the number of registrations from Category A to Category C has also been relatively evenly distributed. The first batch of applicant cities are from more than 30 countries, including Portugal, Italy, Poland, France, Greece, Turkey, the United States, Brazil, the UAE, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Egypt, South Africa, and Australia, etc, covering major intercontinental regions. Cities from Iceland and Colombia, etc. have also made their debut to register in the Awards. Those that Written Submissions have passed the international review will subsequently be invited to participate in the LivCom Finals as well as multiple exchange activities held during the Finals.
This year's Awards is themed by ‘Sustainable Humanities and Future Cities’. Applicants are encouraged by the Judges to incorporate the theme in the written materials, particularly for the Technology and Solutions Award. During the Finals, in addition to the Finals presentations, the LivCom Committee will organize a four-day series of events all centered around this theme—including forum, multiple technical conference sessions, United Nations training programme and excursion tour, in collaboration with numerous UN agencies and partners.

LivCom Finals & Forum 2026 to be Organized in Rabat, Morocco this December
Following discussions with our partners, the LivCom Committee is pleased to confirm that this year's Finals and Forum will be organized in Rabat, Morocco during 12-15 December.
Registration for the 24th LivCom Awards officially opened to cities and projects worldwide in March 2026.
Please note the upcoming deadlines:
July 31st for registration
August 31st for written submissions.
LivCom 2026 is co-organized by the LivCom Committee alongside several key global partners, including ISOCARP, INIA (UN-Malta), UNCRD, UNU-EHS, and CEDARE. We are also proud to welcome the UNESCO Most Bridges Coalition as a major partner for this year, greatly contributing to the theme this year’s LivCom events focus on "Sustainable Humanities and Future Cities".

Registration Open for LivCom Awards 2026
The 24th LivCom Awards is now open for registration to cities and projects. The call for Written Submission will close by the end of July.
The annual LivCom Finals & Forum will be organized in November, with the theme of Sustainable Humanities and Future Cities. Details on venue and dates, etc are to be released soon.
